The Buildingproject

In the autumn of 2001 the building will start of a new Tibetan nunnery in Dharmsala, India. The nunnery will provide facilities for 108 nuns of the Buddhist Shugsep tradition. There already exists a nunnery, but there is an urgent need for a new building. The currently used building is not suitable for the climate on an altitude of 1800 meters. The building is leaking and the dampness increases the incidence of illness in the very crowded conditions. A suitable plot of land is already purchased for the building of a new nunnery. The construction costs are calculated at US $ 411,611. To date, US $ 100,000 toward the cost of construction has been raised in the Netherlands, Germany, United States, Norway and England. The maintenance costs of the nunnery will be payed out of already raised funds of the Norwegian Tibet Committee Womens Group, the German Heinrich Böll foundation and the American Tibetan Nuns Project. We are having a fundraising for this purpose.
Your donations are more then welcome. (see SiteInfo)
